Mill Creek Campground
The GIS Colorado summer meeting is going to be held at the Mill Creek campground (Lake City area) on August 7-9, 2019. We’re doing this meeting a little bit differently. This one is called GIS Colorado Unplugged. We are partnering with the BLM on this one and it should be a blast!
Here’s the plan.
Wednesday (Aug 7)- arrive at the Mill Creek campground (Latitude / Longitude 37.90726, -107.39283) in the afternoon/evening. Dinner will be provided.
Thursday (Aug 8)- In the wee hours we’ll be joining forces with the BLM to conduct a noxious weeds data collection project on the Alpine Loop using EDDMapS West data collection software. We’re using 14er rules- get up early and be off the mountain before the afternoon thunderstorms roll in (unless the monsoon patterns are totally whacky this year.) Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided
Friday (Aug 9)- GIS Colorado quarterly meeting. We’ll be hosting the meeting at the Mill Creek campground. There will be a canvas hunting tent setup to keep us dry and/or out of the sun. We are encouraging presentation geared toward how you conduct your work without internet access, limited electricity and/or limited battery power, questionable GPS signals, etc. In other words, tell us, without using a slide deck, how you work in remote locations, like the Mill Creek campground! Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The recreation possibilities in the area are nearly endless. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, you don’t want to miss this meeting.
