Please consider this letter as my expression of interest in serving on the GIS Colorado Board. I have only been in the professional GIS world for 4 years but I have become very interested in being involved with my local GIS community and beyond. I am an active civil servant with a strong background in natural resources, geology, and local government while boasting an enthusiasm for public work. I have experience sitting on boards and believe I could contribute greatly to this board. Currently I am a GIS specialist for Montezuma County in southwest Colorado. Part of my role at work is to collaborate with Dolores County’s GIS Department so that our data is seamless and can be easily merged and utilized by the public and emergency services. I also working closely with our local public lands office, but outside of this, it’s hard to keep in touch with my GIS neighbors. Living in a rural part of the state makes meeting and networking with my peers difficult but GISCO’s quarterly meetings that rotate locations around Colorado have created an avenue for this. There is so much value in these meetings and I want to help keep the vision going. Being on the board, I can help represent the western slope and less populated areas of Colorado. There is so much value in these meetings and I want to help keep the vision going. Thank you in advance for your consideration of my letter of interest to serve on the GIS Colorado Board. After attending my first GISCO meeting in July 2016, I became aware of the power that networking through these events has. I would like to help grow, shape and execute GISCO’s mission by being a part of the board.
