GIS Technician/Cartographer

Job description: Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Geology/Earth Science or a Bachelor’s in Geography with a GIS focus and an aptitude for the earth sciences. Knowledge generally associated with bachelor’s degree in geology, or related science field, and experience with GIS are required. Knowledge of: GIS software such as ArcGIS, Global Mapper, or Q-GIS; Adobe CC illustrator; database software; MS Word, Excel; and the use of internet technology are required. Know or be willing to learn new software, production techniques, and knowledge of basic technical editing are desired. Applicants must also know PC hardware and software. An NM State driver’s license is required. Applicants are requested to present either geologic/geographic research and cartographic production examples.

Aquatic Data Distribution Specialist

GPS Technician - Temporary

Company/organization: South Adams Co Water & Sanitation

Job description: This position will provide assistance to the GIS Department in field location of District assets (valves, hydrants, etc) using a Trimble GPS unit; collect, verify, manage and edit data associated with those assets and create maps using ESRI ArcGIS Software/AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualified candidates should be enrolled in a GIS related program. Valid, current Colorado Driver’s License required, with clean MVR. Drug Screen/background check required prior to employment.

Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook in addition to basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS is necessary. Ability to use hand held GPS unit. Ability to work independently with solid problem solving and communication skills.

This position requires work in a variety of locations, terrains and conditions. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally is necessary.
