      DUTIES – Under general direction of the GIS Supervisor, create, maintain, and update datasets using assigned software, relational databases, geodatabases, and query languages; gather necessary information; setup and maintain the link between spatial geodatabase and the municipal asset management system database for assigned infrastructure; design, layout, and modify databases as necessary for data storage and GIS map web site; maintain and publish datasets on a regular assigned schedule or upon request from other departments or the public; display spatial and relational information in the form of charts, tables, graphs, maps, slides, and multimedia presentations and website pages; provide elevated technical assistance, GIS support and training to department staff, various departments of the City and other clients; develop custom processes for data capture, conversion, and maintenance procedures using tools such as database queries, geospatial analysis, and scripting or other programming languages; prepare and maintain a variety of records, reports, and logs.

      REQUIREMENTS – Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university with major course work in information technology, GIS, computer science or related field. Create printed and interactive web maps and graphs using ESRI ArcGIS Software 10x and related equipment. Meet with users to define data needs, project requirements, required outputs, or to develop applications. Conduct research to locate and obtain existing GIS data sources and GIS layers. Gather, analyze and integrate spatial data from staff and determine how the information can be displayed using GIS and web apps with mobile capabilities. Compile geographic data from a variety of sources including longitudinal and latitudinal data, field observations and surveys, satellite/aerial imagery and existing maps.
